Learning Objectives:

  • Gain familiarity with research and policy issues related to adolescent literacy
  • Gain understanding of content management systems and website maintenance processes
  • Gain knowledge on grant management systems and reporting requirements

Projects:

  • Participation in the development of a nonprofit promotion and outreach plan
  • Keep up with our social networking efforts on Facebook and Twitter
  • Add links for further reading at the bottom of articles in A to Z
  • Solicit questions and help re-energize "Ask the Experts"
  • Search for contests to add to our Just for Fun section
  • Some simple HTML coding
  • Assist with webcast production

Qualifications:

  • Three years of college with a preferred major in Education, English, Communication, Psychology, or Sociology
  • Demonstrated interest and familiarity in literacy and public education (either through education or previous work experience) 
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Interest in issues related to adolescent literacy
  • Familiarity with social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter
  • Some HTML experience preferred
  • Photoshop and Illustrator experience helpful
