National Programming (Washington Week)
Learning Objectives:
Gain hands-on experience assisting in the production of a live, national news program.
Projects:
Research various news stories and issues for live, national news program.
Participate in weekly editorial meetings.
Log and retrieve video (new and archived) for weekly program.
Assist in the production of website updates, webchats, and guest relations.
Assist producers in the control room during the live broadcasts.
Qualifications:
Two years of college education with a preferred major in Communication, Political Science, or History.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Extensive knowledge and interest in national politics.
Strong understanding and application of computer technology to efficiently accomplish work, using Microsoft Office programs, email, and Internet.
Web production skills helpful.
