Learning Objectives:

  • Gain hands-on experience assisting in the production of a live, national news program.

Projects:

  • Research various news stories and issues for live, national news program.
    Participate in weekly editorial meetings.
  • Log and retrieve video (new and archived) for weekly program.
  • Assist in the production of website updates, webchats, and guest relations.
  • Assist producers in the control room during the live broadcasts.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of college education with a preferred major in Communication, Political Science, or History.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and interest in national politics.
  • Strong understanding and application of computer technology to efficiently accomplish work, using Microsoft Office programs, email, and Internet.
  • Web production skills helpful.
