Jane Horwitz

[Photograph of Jane Horwitz. Photo credit: Stan Barouh.] Jane Horwitz has been a regular panelist on "Around Town" since 1988. Her column The Family Filmgoer is syndicated by The Washington Post Writers Group to newspapers around the country. A graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Horwitz began her career in radio as a reporter/newscaster in Springfield, Illinois, then broke into television news at WFAA TV in Dallas/Fort Worth. After eight years working as a reporter and arts critic at WFAA TV, Horwitz married and moved to the Greater Washington area in 1985. She worked on WTTG TV's "Ten O' Clock News" as a film and theater critic, then co-hosted the national cable program "The Moviegoing Family" on The Learning Channel. From 1990 to 1996, Horwitz was heard every Friday afternoon on WETA 90.9 FM's "PM Program." The weekly segment called "Talking Pictures" featured Horowitz, Rita Kempley and Robert Aubry Davis. Horwitz has also produced and hosted two pilot film review programs. One of them, "Chicks on Flicks" aired on WHMM TV and featured a panel of female critics.
