Adams Morgan, located northeast of Dupont Circle and Woodley Park in Northwest, D.C., was
established in the late-19th century, and was considered a fashionable suburb for the
upper-middle class. World War II saw a change in residency, as many buildings became boarding
houses, and the neighborhood declined. During the 1960s, the community began its renewal,
attracting a growing number of younger residents and immigrants and laying the groundwork
for today’s ambiance of diversity and lively urban life.
