The Castleton Festival's fifth anniversary season includes a partnership with the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas, presenting two concerts.  Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 7 pm, the Castleton Festival Orchestra and singers present "An Italian Extravaganza" with overtures and arias from beloved operas.  The featured soloists include soprano Elizabeth Futral, baritone Corey Crider, and tenor Jonathan Burton.  Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 8 pm, the Castleton Festival brings a concert in its "Mostly Mahler" series to the Hylton Center, featuring Mahler's Symphony No. 4 with lyric soprano Jennifer Black, and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 5 ("The Reformation.")

Classical WETA's Deborah Lamberton spoke with tenor Jonathan Burton about the Casteton experience and the two duets he'll be performing with baritone Corey Crider at the Hylton Performing Arts Center on June 30th, as well as his first stage production singing Dick Johnson in Puccini's The Girl of the Golden West.  Mr. Burton also describes what happens when emotion overtakes him during a performance, and what it means for a singer like him to lose 40 pounds.
