The Vogler Quartet

Dumbarton Concerts

November 28, 2011, 9:00 pm

Dumbarton Concerts hosts The Vogler Quartet on Front Row Washington, in a concert recorded this past March at Georgetown's historic Dumbarton Church.

Formed in East Berlin in 1985 and still with its original members, the Vogler Quartet quickly established itself as one of the finest quartets of its generation. Mastering a repertoire of over two hundred works from all periods and musical styles, they are widely recognized for their uncommon musical intelligence, homogeneous sound, insightful interpretations and unconventional programming.

The quartet members include Tim Vogler and Frank Reinecke, violin; Stefan Fehlandt, viola; and Stephan Forck, cello.

Featured performances: Johann Sebastian Bach: Art of the Fugue, BWV 1080: Fugue No.1

Ludwig van Beethoven: String Quartet Op 18, No. 3

Erwin Schulhoff: String Quartet No. 1

Antonin Dvořák : String Quartet No. 10, Op. 51
