For it's 2008-09 season, the Mariinsky Theatre revived a 1952 production of The Maid of Pskov.

Rimsky-Korsakov was among the most gifted orchestrators who ever lived, and he brought that remarkable genius to his operas as well as his many familiar concert works. Renowned conductor Valery Gergiev leads the opera in a production from the same theater where it premiered, the historic Mariinsky in St. Petersburg.
