In March, Arts in the Village Gallery presents The Art of Pairing: Abstract Painting & Sculpture, a Featured Artist Exhibit showcasing the convergence of form, figure and palette -- whimsical and dramatic sculptures of Claire Courpron with the engaging, abstract paintings of Karen Hutchison.
With a passion for fashion and design, Claire Courpron creates statuesque monochromatic or limited-palette designs that capture the viewer’s imagination. Beautifully posed female forms, thoughtful still life compositions, and softly draped bottle wraps created from recycled fabrics and paint enliven the space with movement and texture.
Abstract painter Karen Hutchison’s love of combining and designing with color renders dimensional and multifaceted pieces that engage the viewer on many levels. Adding various types of paper and materials to create texture, along with the interplay of color and pattern, Karen is able to create pieces that are alternately, and often simultaneously, stimulating and soothing.
Meet the artists and enjoy wine, cheese, sweets, and coffee from Bean Bar, along with the music of guitarist Bill Cabrera, during a free, open to the public reception on Saturday, March 15th, from 4 – 7 p.m.
