Tallis's Lamentations of the Prophet Jeremiah, among the most famous of all Renaissance compositions, shows the composer at his most personal and heart-felt. Tallis's Latin motets and English anthems are among the best-loved pieces in all choral literature. Tye's four-part Western Wind Mass is a rare example of an English Mass based on a secular love song, in this case a version of the famous folk song Blow, blow, thou western wind.
