Columbia Pro Cantare celebrates British and Celtic music in the final concert of its 2013-14 season. The chorus, under the direction of Frances Motyca Dawson, will be joined for this concert by Jared Denhard, pipes and whistles, Richard McCready, bones and percussion, and the Lexington Brass Quintet. The program consists of short works, some familiar and some new to the ear, including Orlando Gibbons’ Cries of London, Stephen Hatfield’s Best to Be Singing and O’er the Hills, and “Eisteddsod,” a medley of Welsh songs for chorus arranged by Jared Denhard. An informal lecture on the works precedes the concert at 7 pm, and there is a post-concert reception. Tickets are $23 and $20 (students and sr. citizens) in advance; $2 more at the door. To order tickets, visit procantare.org, or call 410.799.9321 or 301.854.0107.
