Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme and Lutoslawski’s Cello Concerto, written for Rostropovich. The final work,Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, reflects the gamut of human emotion, from tragedy to life-embracing exuberance.
