BMD honors centennial anniversary of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring with an interpretation The Washington Post called, McCauley’s “strongest work to date…muscular, theatrically arresting.”
Artistic director Lucy Bowen McCauley brings together artistic partners Alan Paul of Shakespeare Theatre, scenic designer Tony Cisek, lighting designer Martha Mountain, the Witkowski Piano Duo, Italian virtuoso saxophonist Gaetano DiBacco, and a host of accomplished musicians. The company also performs to newly commissioned scores by Larry Alan Smith—Before the Fall, a ballet based on the story of Humpty Dumpty, danced by the Maryland Youth Ballet—and Patrick Soluri— Fire and Air, a theatrical reimagining of Shakespeare’s Anthony and Cleopatra, featuring a performance by Lucy Bowen McCauley.
