Dance for Parkinson’s classes, designed for people living with Parkinson’s disease, begin on Thursday, April 18. The free weekly sessions take place from 2 to 3 p.m. at Iona Senior Services, 4125 Albemarle Street, N.W., next to to the Tenleytown/AU Metro.
The easy-to-do movement class is appropriate and adaptable for participants of a wide range of physical abilities, including people who use walkers and wheelchairs. No dance experience is required. Family members, friends, and caregivers are welcome to participate in the sessions, and classes can be taken on a walk-in basis.
The class follows the techniques of the innovative Dance for PD program developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and the Brooklyn Parkinson Group.
