Join The Textile Museum members for an insider’s day tour guided by Joyce Scott, internationally known multimedia artist. Begin the day with a visit to Goya Gallery, open exclusively for the group, to see Scott’s current beaded work. Continue to lunch at the Baltimore Museum of Art’s renowned restaurant, Gertrude’s, followed by special, private access to the museum’s textile storage with BMA staff Anita Jones and Julie Geschwind to see textiles by Scott and her mother, plus other museum textile treasures including a famous Baltimore Album Quilt. The day ends with an introduction to the world of contemporary textiles with a visit to the studios of Maryland Institute College of Art professors Piper Shephard and Susie Brandt and for a sneak peek at fashions being created by the talented students at MICA. The trip departs at 9 AM from Capital Memorial Church, 3150 Chesapeake St., NW, Washington D.C. (free parking available in church lot). Registration fee includes roundtrip travel from Washington via private bus, lunch at Gertrude’s, and snacks on the journey. Fee: $150 (Textile Museum members and guests only).
