Relax and Take 5! with free, live jazz in the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s beautiful Kogod Courtyard. Harold Summey explores the music of the seventies and eighties jazz super group Weather Report and the compositional contributions made by tenor and soprano saxophonist Wayne Shorter. Weather Report’s unusual and innovative approach matched Shorter's unique and sometimes challenging compositional style. Summey explores this signature sound, from the free jazz of Surucucu to the hard edged funk of Predator. Stop by the Courtyard Café for refreshments. For added fun, borrow a board game to play during the concert. Feeling inspired to create? During concerts, ArtJamz sets up a temporary studio, offering registered participants an opportunity to paint while the entire audience mingles. For registration information, visit artjamzdc.com.
Event begins at 5:00PM
