Join us at the Workhouse Arts Center, 9601 Ox Road, Lorton, VA for Sueños Americanos, an exhibition running from September 14 through November 3, 2013.
Sueños Americanos is a nationally juried exhibition comprised of works created by visual artists working in a variety of mediums and styles that celebrate Latin America.
Latin American art is the comprised of the artistic expressions of South America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico, as well as Latin Americans living in other regions. Perhaps just as many variables exist among Latino cultures as do similarities. One major common cultural occurrence among Latinos is migration into the US, often in search of the “American Dream”, in many cases even by those already considered citizens and living in US territories such as Puerto Rico. Because of this, Latino Americans often juggle the traditions of their given heritage with integration into American culture. This exhibit will explore the dualities of the Latin American experience and how they uniquely inform the artistic voice of each artist represented.
Event begins at 11:00AM
