History’s first song cycle — the Seven Songs of Love by Martim Codax — and a mass by Juan Cornago based on a popular song about a map of the world will be performed along with spirited Spanish dance music of the period. Folger Consort is joined by guests Emily Noël (soprano) and Aaron Sheehan (tenor). The concert will also feature fiddles, winds, lutes, and psalteries. An Early Music Seminar will discuss the planned music pieces and their history in depth, on Wednesday, September 25 at 6:00pm. Concert performances are Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 5:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sunday at 2:00pm.
