Healthy Lunches, Healthy Students
$12 Member | $12 Student | $20 Non-member.
As U.S. childhood obesity rates remain high, attention is increasingly focused on offering nourishing school meals and encouraging children to make healthy choices. A panel discusses the importance of wholesome, locally sourced menus in cafeterias and the growing interest in school gardens. Panelists include Sam Kass (invited), assistant chef and senior policy advisor for Healthy Food at the White House; Stephen Ritz, New York public school teacher and founder, Green Bronx Machine; Frances Evangelista, assistant principal, Hyde-Addison Elementary School; and Nona Evans, executive director, Whole Kids Foundation. This program complements the Green Schools exhibition, which will be open before the talk.
