The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) is pleased to partner with DC Public Library to bring the “A Narrative of Light and Shadow – Female photographers from Taiwan” photo exhibition to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library from July 26 to August 29.
TECRO Representative Lyushun Shen said he hopes this event and others like it will increase the cultural exchanges between Taiwan and the Washington, DC, community and will encourage people to seek out all that Taiwan has to offer.
The exhibition of 20 photos will focus on landscapes and traditional culture from the perspective of two of Taiwan’s female photographers, Chang Hsiu-huang and Chang Yung-chieh. The different focuses of each photographer provide a captivating look at Taiwan’s landscape and local culture. The photos are part of the “A Narrative of Light and Shadow” collection published by the ROC’s Foreign Ministry earlier this year.
Opening day of the exhibition will be marked by a reception at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, featuring signature Taiwanese snacks as well as videos of the photographers discussing their work.
