Historian Anthony Cohen will perform a dramatic narrative, The Underground Railroad, on Sunday, March 30, from 1pm to 3pm at River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Bethesda, Md. Cohen, founder of the Menare Foundation, will trace the steps of runaways along wilderness trails and waterways to fugitive slave communities and Quaker sanctuaries.
The program, sponsored by RRUUC's College Access Fund, will include The Howard University Gospel Choir performing songs of the Underground Railroad, directed by Reginald Golden, Musical Director.
A light lunch and dessert reception will be included in the ticket price. Proceeds from the event are used to fund college scholarships for minorities. Tickets: Adults are $30. ($15 tax deductible); Youth from 13 to 18 are $15. ($5 tax deductible); Families (1-2 adults and children) are $60. ($20 tax deductible). Tickets may be purchased at the door.
