National Building Museum

Building Zone long-term Monday through Saturday: 10:00am - 4:00 pm; Sunday: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm Ages 2-6 with adult supervision The Building Zone introduces children to the building arts through play in an interactive gallery of hands-on activities for the Museum's youngest visitors. PLAY WORK BUILD takes children and adults alike through an exploration of play with an immersive, hands-on installation featuring molded foam blocks of all shapes and sizes and an original virtual block play experience. 

Volunteers Needed - Phoenix Rising Meal Program

Franconia United Methodist Church

Franconia United Methodist Church, 6037 Franconia Rd, Alexandria, is part of a group of churches that serves a nutritious bagged meal to homeless people living in the woods, their vehicles, and in motels along the Route One corridor between North Kings Highway and the Fairfax County Parkway in Alexandria. All ages can help prepare and assemble the bag lunches and assist in delivery. We deliver the meals the fourth Friday of the month at 5:30 pm, and we prepare the meals on the day before (Thursdays) at 6:30 pm. Contact us at 703 971-5151 or admin@franconiaumc.org. Website: http://www.franconiaumc.org. We're at the corner of Beulah and Franconia, next to Franconia Elementary School, on Fairfax Connector buses 231, 232, and 310.

Our 2013 schedule is Jan 24 & 25, Feb 21 & 22, Mar 21 & 22, Apr 25 & 26, May 23 & 24, Jun 27 & 28, Jul 25 & 26, Aug 22 & 23, Sept 26 & 27, Oct 24 & 25, Nov 21 & 22, and Dec 26 & 27.
