I was already expecting great things from this series simply because
Ken Burns has produced so many spectacular series. But although
being a Sierra Club member for many years and thinking I knew who
John Muir was and his personal history, this series opened with a
view on John Muir's perspective that I will carry for the rest of my
life. The association of Muir's view of the natural environment,
which I was aware of, was enhanced by his association of that
environment to his spirituality. I will be reminded of that affirming
faith every time I walk in the woods.
Very poorly advertised. No one knows which espisode is on each night, or how long that espisode will run Two hrs two days ? However, the film is fantastic, both educational and entertaining.
I watch over the air HD, and normally 26.1 WETA DC comes in perfectly. For the Parks film, I don't know why, but the signal strength has been cut. What's going on?
We've forwarded your message to our Audience Services and TV departments to try to figure out what's going on. Just FYI -- the series will be repeated on Oct 4 and 11 and can also be watched in its entirety (for a limited time) online: http://video.pbs.org/program/1072181584/
Outstanding, just outstanding. This is what TV is supposed to do!! I love the shows, not just the content but the overall tone and manner in which the shows were produced. Some of the best I have ever seen. PBS does and has done a great job with their shows on the National Parks, including the Great Lodges. This is why I contribute to WETA!!!!!
Well I think it should of been National Parks, West. As a native Virginian and WVirginian, I was dishearten that so far nothing has been mentioned about Shennandoah, or Applachians (which are the oldest mountains on the planet. What a shame. I will say Im not a west person, but I did like the historical aspects. I guess I thought since it was "National Parks" it would be representative of the NATION!
I enjoy the Great Lodges and just watched the National Parks video. PBS did a great job on this and it is always entertaining to see all of what America has to offer in its National Parks. Most of the time we do not realize all the things there are to do.
Loved it!! These types of shows are always so interesting and educational. Our National Parks are so wonderful, I just wish that more people appreciated them.

I knew very little about our National Parks, but Ken Burns has really opened my eyes. This was a spectacular piece of art. I started watching this because there was nothing else on. By the end of the week I couldn't wait to watch the next episode. The program inspired me to look more into the life of John Muir and I even joined the Sierra Club. The National Parks have a vivid history that can only be explained as intriguing and inspirational.
