"Antiques Roadshow" is Coming to Washington!

Antiques Roadshow Banner

WETA is thrilled that Washington, D.C., is one of six cities chosen to be taped by the Antiques Roadshow crew this summer. They'll be coming to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on August 21. Below is everything you need to know about how you can participate in this great event!

Did I win tickets?

Tickets to the Antiques Roadshow event are free, but are very limited and most are distributed through a random drawing. If you entered the drawing online, you will be able to use your application number or e-mail address to check the status of your ticket request on the Antiques Roadshow website. If you applied for tickets by postcard and are chosen to receive tickets, you will not receive a confirmation prior to receiving the tickets.

If you submitted a piece of furniture to the Furniture Roundup and your item is selected, you will be called no later than mid-July to make arrangements. If you do not hear from Antiques Roadshow by telephone, your furniture has not been selected. You can still have it appraised, but you will need an event ticket and you must provide your own transportation for your item. Your item must fit through a standard door, and you must be able to carry or move your item throughout the event. We cannot provide dollies or carts or assistance of any kind

If you made a donation to WETA during our June 7 Antiques Roadshow pledge special and requested tickets to the event as your thank-you gift, your tickets will be mailed the week of July 21. Thank you for your support of WETA!

Please be aware that no tickets will be available the day of the event. If you do not have a ticket, you will not be admitted.

Attending an Antiques Roadshow event is a lot of fun, but there are some things you should know in advance. The Washington, D.C. event will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Exhibit Halls A and B. Please use the main entrance at 801 Mount Vernon Place NW. If you need to use a drop-off area prior to parking, please use the drop-off area on Mount Vernon between 7th and 9th Streets in front of the convention center. See the Convention Center website for details about parking, directions, and public transportation.

  • Each ticket holder may bring two items.
  • You cannot enter the event unless you have a ticket and have brought at least one item for appraisal.

Your item(s) must fit through a standard door. Antiques Roadshow will not appraise coins, currency, stamps, vehicles, glass fire extinguishers, explosives, or hazardous materials. If you plan to bring an antique or vintage firearm for appraisal, please read important information in the Antiques Roadshow FAQ.

  • Please do not arrive more than 30 minutes before the entrance time on your ticket.

The timed entries to the event help ensure that the day runs smoothly for everyone. Even if you arrive early, you will not be admitted until the entrance time on your ticket.

  • You will need to wait in line.

While the tickets have timed entries, you should expect to stand and wait in line for a period of time. Wear comfortable shoes!

  • Chairs are limited.

You should not count on chairs being available while you're waiting. If you or your guest has difficulty standing for long periods of time, please bring a small, lightweight and portable chair or wheelchair.

  • You must be able to carry or move your item throughout the event.

We cannot provide dollies or carts or assistance of any kind, so please plan accordingly.

  • Concession stands will be open and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Convention Center.
  • As you leave, don't forget to stop at the WETA booth to say hello and get your picture taken with your items!
