On Monday evening, September 22, 2008, Judy Woodruff, Senior Correspondent of The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, moderated a discussion with distinguished journalists about the media and its coverage of the 2008 campaign at the Newseum before a capacity crowd in a special Leadership Circle event.

The evening began with a reception on the Newseum’s terrace overlooking the U.S. Capitol and Pennsylvania Avenue. Moderator Judy Woodruff and panelists Gerald F. Seib, Naomi Karam, Byron York, and Kevin Merida mingled with guests on the terrace before enjoying dinner and the discussion about media’s role in political coverage of the 2008 election.
The panel discussion opened with remarks by Sharon Percy Rockefeller, President and CEO of WETA, who stressed the importance of producing the highest-quality political news coverage and WETA’s role in maintaining the integrity of the information.
