More Fast Food My Way with Jacques Pépin

On Tuesday evening, October 28, 2008, Leadership Circle donors gathered for the second event in WETA’s Leadership Circle Salon Series at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. Guests attended a cooking demonstration and discussion with renowned chef Jacques Pépin and the executive chef of Stone’s Throw Restaurant and Bar, John Payne, Jr. The two talented and innovative chefs prepared dishes from Pépin’s latest cookbook, More Fast Food My Way and entertained the capacity crowd with anecdotes about Jacques’s childhood in France and his culinary experiences in the United States. Jacques also spoke of his long history associated with PBS, including his new cooking show of the same name, More Fast Food My Way, which can currently be seen on WETA TV 26 at 4 pm on Saturdays.

The evening began as Leadership Circle members mingled in a private section of the restaurant while Jacques autographed copies of his new cookbook. Guests were entertained by Pépin and Payne’s cooking demonstration, featuring menu selections from More Fast Food My Way, and were joined by the two chefs in a five course meal of the delicious dishes seen in the demonstration.
