Estate gifts are a very important source of funding for WETA and we appreciate your interest in remembering us in your will, trust or other estate vehicle.
WETA's Legacy Society allows individuals to make a charitable gift of estate assets, which helps ensure WETA's long-term future. With such gifts, donors can make a satisfying and, usually, substantial contribution while meeting their own personal and financial objectives.
The following are several types of bequests you can make to WETA:
Many people name WETA in their estate plans but never let us know. We hope that you will let us know when you have completed your estate planning documents and have named WETA as a beneficiary. We would like to express our appreciation and will respect your anonymity if you so choose. In addition, by letting us know about your plans, you will help WETA plan for the future and help ensure that your wishes are carried out after your lifetime.
The following is information your attorney needs to prepare your bequest.
The Greater Washington Educational Telecommunications Association, Inc., (WETA), with current business of 2775 S. Quincy Street, Arlington, Virginia 22206. WETA is a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The tax identification number is 53-0242992.
You may specify that your gift be used for the general purposes of the organization, which provides WETA with the most flexibility. Simply have your attorney insert the following language in addition to the language listed above: “to foster and promote the growth, progress, and general welfare of WETA as the Board of Trustees may direct.” If you wish to further direct your bequest, please contact the Planned Giving office at 703-998-2619.
Gifts to WETA are tax deductible. An attorney familiar with local probate practice should draft your will, trust or other bequest document. WETA cannot prepare your bequest documents nor act as executor of your estate.

Donors who remember WETA in their estate plans are significant contributors to WETA's mission. They include special donors such as:
To all of our Legacy Society donors, our heartfelt thanks.
Please note that WETA cannot provide tax or legal advice. We encourage you to talk with your attorney or other advisor before making such a gift and to assist you in preparing your estate documents. WETA cannot act as executor nor prepare your bequest documents.
