An Around Town panelist since 2005, Tim Gordon is a film critic, appearing regularly on television and radio. He serves as executive director and chairman of the Foundation for the Advancement of African-Americans in Film (FAAAF) and president of the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA). In addition, Gordon is a former member of the Variety Magazine Bureau of Film Critics (Washington, D.C., chapter).
Gordon’s works in film criticism is wide and varied. He created and published the film newsletter, The Renaissance Review, covering African Americans in the motion picture industry. Later, that publication became a weekly entertainment program that he hosted and produced, known as "The Tim Gordon Entertainment Show" for the Radio One Network.
In 2000, Gordon created and published reelimagesmagazine.com, an online film magazine. In addition to covering the entertainment industry, the site assisted in the marketing and promotion of over 200 films. Gordon has appeared nationally promoting African-Americans in film on several shows, including "BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley" and "BET's Screen Scene."
His work has been featured in publications such as USA Today and BET Weekend. Gordon is also a contributing entertainment critic for Howard University's "Evening Exchange with Kojo Nnamdi."
