The Washington Nationals have been DC's hometown baseball team since 2005, when Major League Baseball decided to relocate a struggling Montreal Expos franchise to Washington. The move renewed an almost century-long tradition of baseball in the nation's capital and brought joy to many Washington fans who had been without a team of their own since 1971 when the Washington Senators moved to Texas.
The team played its home games at RFK Stadium from 2005-2007 before moving into a new, state of the art, stadium in Southeast Washington for the 2008 season. Following in the footsteps of Senators greats like Walter Johnson and Frank Howard, this new crop of players and coaches hopes to write a new chapter in Washington's baseball lore.
