Gamer Symphony Orchestra Spring Concert

The Gamer Symphony Orchestra at the University of Maryland (GSO), a student-run orchestra of 90 instrumentalists and 30 vocalists exclusively devoted to performing music from video games. The ensemble will be performing the latest additions to its repertoire, as well as old favorites.

The performance is FREE, family-friendly and open to the public!

GSO musicians arrange the majority of the pieces in the ensemble’s repertoire, adapting songs for the specific instrumentation and size of the orchestra. Two Grammy-nominated composers collaborated with GSO arrangers for this spring’s concert: Austin Wintory (“Journey”) and David Arkenstone (“World of Warcraft”).

The GSO is the first organization of its type at the college level. The group has filled Dekelboum, the College Park campus's largest performing arts venue, to capacity three semesters in a row and performed to a full house at the Smithsonian American Art Museum last spring as part of “The Art of Video Games” exhibition.

Event begins at 2:00PM
