This special radio program, produced by and broadcast on Classical WETA, explored Mstislav Rostropovich's life and career. Rostropovich, music director of the National Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 1994, led a triumphant return to Russia following the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990. He was one of the planet's finest cellists. Classical WETA Music Director and weekday morning host David Ginder produced and hosted the program.
